Graves of Honor is a nonprofit organization that raises money for the cleaning, maintenance and restoration of abandoned cemeteries with military veterans.
Several West Long Branch residents have started this NJ Nonprofit Organization to raise money for the cleaning, maintenance and restoration of abandoned cemeteries with military veterans throughout New Jersey. We are starting in West Long Branch with the abandoned part of the Old First Methodist cemetery on Locust and Wall Street, the abandoned Old Free Church cemetery on Monmouth Road, and the abandoned Greenlawn Cemetery on Broadway.
For many years, the amazing volunteers and organizations in the area have attempted to maintain the cemeteries as best as possible with virtually no financial support. We started this charity to create a funding vessel for a more permanent and sustainable solution to care for these cemeteries, and hopefully many more throughout the state.
We are pending 501c3 status. Once we have that we will begin agressive fundraising including state and federal grant applications. In the meantime we are still a NJ Nonprofit and are accepting donations on Go Fund Me to support the amazing work that our volunteers are doing and have done out of their own pockets for many years.
Thank you in advance for your help. If you can't donate at this time please pass along this information and follow us on our social media pages.
